When time stands still
Everything at the same time
How lovely to travel effortlessly, through space! Imagine weighing nothing so you can travel at the speed of light!
Passing by a heavy body like a star, you would be slightly diverted towards it, because of the principles of Relativity, but pass so fast you probably wouldn’t notice any change.
And there would be no time! As you get nearer and nearer to the speed of light the principle of Relativity tells us that time slows down. At the speed of light time stops. Could you continue to think? To reason? To experience? Hard to imagine. But if time stops, here is what happens: imagine the universe is filled with mirrors: you bounce off the first mirror – let’s say you travel 100 earth years and hit another mirror – what does that time feel like to you? No time at all!
Bouncing off another hundred mirrors? It would feel like they were all in the same place and at the same time! Indeed, like the name of the film, Everything everywhere all at once!
Everything would seem to be at the same time and same place! Is that what it feels like to be God? You’d need to be God to experience it all at the same time!
But we earthlings can’t get to the speed of light – we’d need all the energy in the universe, and even that wouldn’t be enough. The only solution is to be reborn as light, but then you live and bounce around for ever.
Let there be light! But it will have to be a thorough rebirth. Carrying anything except light will slow us down.
